Different people and conditions respond to different chiropractic adjustment techniques. Dr. Corey uses a variety of techniques to provide the best care for everyone.
What Types of Adjusting Techniques Are Used??
While most people interested in chiropractic care understand that chiropractic adjustments involve manipulating the body, they may not realize that there is different ways to do them.
Diversified Technique – The most widely used method. Involves hands-on, high-velocity, low-amplitude (HVLA) thrusts to restore normal motion and alignment in the spine and joints. Often produces the familiar "popping" sound.Activator Method – Uses a small handheld spring-loaded instrument (Activator) to deliver a gentle, quick impulse to targeted joints. Often used for patients who prefer or need low-force adjustments.Arthrostim – A handheld adjusting instrument that delivers rapid, repetitive pulses to joints and soft tissues. Provides a controlled, gentle adjustment without twisting or popping, making it ideal for sensitive patients, kids, or those needing low-force care.Thompson Drop-Table Technique – Uses a special adjusting table with drop pieces. When the chiropractor applies a quick thrust, the section of the table drops slightly, assisting the adjustment with less force.Webster Technique – Specifically designed for pregnant patients. Focuses on balancing the pelvis and sacrum to help with comfort and potentially optimal fetal positioning.Extremity Adjusting – Adjustments to joints outside the spine, such as shoulders, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles, to improve mobility and function.
